Sign in the way you already do
Use your email and password, or your Google account, on the web and in the desktop app. Whichever you choose, it’s the same MakeTimeFlow account.
Two ways to sign in
- Email and password. Works anywhere, with or without a Google account.
- Continue with Google. One less password to keep. Google shares your name and email address with us, nothing else.
Both lead to the same account, so if you’ve set up both you can use either.
Continue with Google on the web
What happens depends on whether we already know your Google address:
- New to MakeTimeFlow: you’ll see Create your MakeTimeFlow account, with your name and the terms to accept.
- You already have an account with that Gmail or Google Workspace address: we connect it automatically and email you to say so.
- Your account uses a different address (say, a work address you added to a Google account): Google can only vouch for its own addresses, so we can’t connect it for you. Log in with your password, then add Google under Social Login → Add Google sign-in.
If you already connected Google Calendar
That Google account now signs you in too. Calendar access is separate, and signing in never changes it.
Signing in to the desktop app
The desktop app signs in through your browser. Google won’t sign anyone in inside an app’s own window, and your browser may already know you.

(no second click)
- Sign in with your browser opens your browser. If it’s already signed in, it asks “Sign in to the MakeTimeFlow desktop app as you (your email)?”. Click Continue. If not, sign in there, and the app opens signed in.
- Continue with Google goes straight to Google’s account chooser, then back to the app. If your browser is already signed in to MakeTimeFlow, it asks the same “Sign in to the MakeTimeFlow desktop app as …?” first.
- New to MakeTimeFlow? Continue with Google works here too: create your account in the browser, and the app opens signed in, ready to set up.
- Not you? Use a different account: use this when the browser is signed in as someone else.
- Sign in with email and password instead: the form inside the app is still there, behind this link.
- Your browser asks whether to open MakeTimeFlow: allow it. Some browsers offer to always allow it.
When the app sends you to your browser for something else, like connecting a calendar, Protect My Time, or the community, a browser that isn’t signed in asks Continue as you (your email)? first. See Connecting Your Calendar.
Two-factor authentication
Two-factor works everywhere you sign in. In the browser, you’re asked for your verification code as usual. In the desktop app’s password form, the code field appears after your password. A backup code works too.
When something goes wrong
- The browser didn’t open the app: click Open MakeTimeFlow on the page.
- “That sign-in didn’t start from this app”: start again from the app. A link from an earlier attempt, one you cancelled in the app, or one started before the app restarted won’t work.
- It took more than a few minutes: the sign-in expires. Start again from the app.
- Google sign-in was cancelled or didn’t finish: you’re back on the sign-in page with “Something went wrong”. Try Google again, or use your password. If the desktop app started it, signing in there still carries on to the app.
Removing Google sign-in
Go to Social Login in your account settings and click Remove beside Google. Your password still works. If you never set one, use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page.
